New version of MAPS launched!

The MAPS team are proud to present a new version of MAPS. Amongst the many new minor improvements and upgrades are some exciting new major features.

New features include:

DiDA
We are very pleased to announce that MAPS 2006 now fully supports EDEXCEL’s Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA), the new qualification replacing GNVQ. Within these qualifications, pupils must record their work as an e-portfolio – a website to present their work for the four units of the course.

MAPS now fully supports this qualification by:

  • Securely storing all work online with a 200MB allowance of space for each student
  • Allowing students to upload e-portfolio websites onto MAPS
  • Allowing students to store multiple copies of the portfolios ahead of submission
  • Allowing students home access to their work through MAPS online 24/7 system
  • Allowing teachers to mark student work online against the Using DiDA specifications that have been built into MAPS allowing work to be marked online
  • Giving teachers access to a management screen for an overview of which student has completed which units
  • Allowing schools to digitally submit coursework

We believe this is a great step forward for schools who that have been worried about the safety and security of their own networks for storing critical coursework. MAPS has been proven to be a very safe and secure way of dealing with this problem with guaranteed backup of work and excellent virus protection.

Student Workspace
MAPS also now includes a student workspace area which allows students to transfer files from home or school. These files are cleaned for viruses as they are uploaded and can then be downloaded for use at school/college, or transferred to an open MAPS task or worked on at home. Students can also create their own projects using the new Project tool and the built in online word-processor.

Upload websites
Students can now upload websites they have created into MAPS. These are checked for viruses and for any problems and can then be viewed by the student and teacher.
