Welcome to the first part of the Virtual Visit Project! Your task in Part One of this project is to gather all the information you need to prepare for a “virtual visit” by another school. The visiting pupils are relying on you and your classmates to tell them about everything they would discover if they visited your school for real. If you are successful, they will feel like they’ve been to your school and know all about it – even though they have never stepped foot inside! To do this you will have to find out as much as possible about: 1) Your visitors - to see what sort of things they want to know about. 2) Your school - to make sure all the information you give your visitors is correct. You are allowed to contact the visiting pupils by email - ask your teacher to find out more! Think carefully about what you want to say to your virtual visitors. How are you going to discover what they want to know about your school? Once you have worked out what your visitors want to know, you must find the information they have asked for. How are you going make sure the information you give them is correct? Finally, you must work out how you are going to arrange the information in a database. You should negotiate with the other school, so that they send you the information in the form that you need it. They may want to use the database themselves (in Part Two of Virtual Visit) so it's important that you know how they would like the information to be presented. Then you should upload a database file with the information filled in into your portfolio. In Part Two of the project you will use this database to put together a presentation for your virtual visitors showing them around your school and answering all their questions.
